This is a magnificent tea service of three pieces with tea pot, sugar bowl and cream jar from a Scottish silversmith from Inverness. The year letter P indicates the year of manufactory 1836. Their shape with bulbous corpora, standing on each four rocaille feet, is narrowing at the neck and on top with protruding rim. On the domed hinge lids are small knobs. Knob and ear handle of the pot (on top with groove dcor) are crafted of wood. The pot has got a beak-shaped spout. Cream jar and sugar bowl have each got two opposing ear handles with singular leaf layer. In the spout of the cream jar is a filter that is likewise crafted of silver.
The three pieces are hallmarked with year letter P, city mark camel, revenue mark anchor and maker’s mark of a 3-parted scepter with snake. The three pieces are in good condition with traces of use and of oxidation. Every piece displays one or two (pot) small dents. At the cream jar is a scrape mark. The hinge of the pot lid has been provisorily fixed with a metal rod. There are minimal unevennesses at the rim of the pot spout. The dimensions of the pot are 12.5 x 25 cm. The total weight is approximately 748.72 grams. (tm)
