Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 5th century CE. A very tall unguent jar made of blue blown glass, with a bell shaped bottom ending a very slightly concave base. A tall, thin glass neck rises to a flared rim with a slight rolled edge. This type of vessel was used to hold perfumes, oils, or other precious liquids that would evaporate easily. This particular example has a gorgeous iridescent patina that covers much of one side. Size: 2.6" W x 8" H (6.6 cm x 20.3 cm)
