Containing full, impartial and graphic descriptions of the various military and naval engagements, with the heroic deeds achieved by armies and individuals, touching scenes and incidents in the camp, the cabin, the field and the hospital. Has biographical sketches of the war's heroes with many engravings of these men. Here are volumes 1&2 completed by S.M. Schmucker. Rev. Schmucker passed away prior to the end of the Civil War. L.P. Brockett completed the series through the end of the war in a volume three [not present].
