Carte de Viste Lt. Governor Oscar J. Dunn of Louisiana.
Photo card has two creases, otherwise very good condition. Image is 2.5" w x 4"h. Frame is 11" x 14". Oscar J. Dunn (c. 1821-1871), is best known as Louisiana's first African American Lt. Governor in 1868. Born a slave, Dunn purchased his freedom, taught himself to read and to become a skilled public speaker, fought in the Union Army to the rank of Captain in the Native Guards, the first all-black regiment to fight for the Union in the Civil War.
