CDV Collage Photograph, "Officers 10th U.S.C. Artillery," with backmark A.D. Lytle, Main Street, Baton Rouge. Measures approximately 2.125" x 3.25". The photo and mount have been trimmed, while the image is clear yet dark. This scarce image shows 46 head shots of the White officers, here presented in a collage. We were able to find only one other example of this scarce CDV, that being in the collection of the US Army War College. Organized from 1st Corps de Afrique Heavy Artillery.
Designated as the 7th Regiment Heavy Artillery on April 4, 1864, and later the 10th Regiment Heavy Artillery on May 21, 1864. This unit was attached to Defenses of New Orleans, La., Dept. of the Gulf, to October, 1864. 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, United States Colored Troops, Dept. of the Gulf, to November, 1864. Defenses of New Orleans, La., to February, 1867. A rare CDV image of the 10th U.S. Colored Heavy Artillery.
Although the CDV image shows 46 officers, the 10th actually had over 50 officers. They include:
