Description
Europe, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A long iron bar with one end rounded, the other ending in a large loop with a tightly-knitted chain hanging from it, ending in a heavy iron ball. The mace, a type of club or virge that uses a heavy head on the end of a chain to deliver crushing blows, has not been used in combat for many centuries, but many European governments and institutions have maces as ceremonial signs of office. Size: 1.5" W x 39.75" H (3.8 cm x 101 cm)
