Description
A wonderful Egyptian beaded pectoral net, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, of long, rectangular form, comprised primarily of colorful faience tubular beads interspersed with tan-colored disc beads, with two rows of tan or off-white tubular beads at the center. A beautiful piece, restrung in the mid 1900's into the original form which was part of the elaborate burial shrouds and covering of mummies of the period. 24 x 6 in (91.2 x 15.2 cm). Ex estate of Maria (Lila) Decatur Mayo Deyo Garnett, niece of Ruth Deyo; Ex collection of Ruth Deyo, acquired early-mid 1900's. Mrs. Deyo was a world-renowned musician and personality, well-known for her appreciation of Egyptian culture.
