Description
An Egyptian faience beaded collar, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, comprised of three rows of elongated faience beads, most bearing linear or geometric impressions and preserved light blue glaze; each row ended by a single off-white disc bead. 15 x 2 3/4 in (38 x 6.9 cm). A very attractive piece, the beads restrung in the mid 1900's on modern cord into a classic collar. Ex estate of Maria (Lila) Decatur Mayo Deyo Garnett, niece of Ruth Deyo; Ex collection of Ruth Deyo, acquired early-mid 1900's. Mrs. Deyo was a world-renowned musician and personality, well-known for her appreciation of Egyptian culture.
