Description
A Near Eastern bronze Master of Animals finial, c. 1000 - 800 BC, the central tube in the form of a human body with three heads, each with large eyes and bird-like features, three necklaces separate each. The multi-headed figure reaches out with both hands and grasp the necks of two rampant griffons which are represented by their heads and necks, a bird head at the base of each. 6 7/8 in (17.4 cm). Mottled green patina with light deposits. Old polished black stone base. Ex London, UK private collection.
