Civil War Letter 1863 Regiment Strength Reduced From 1,000 to 300 Men | Dated from McKim's Hospital, Baltimore, 1863 | Private Rueben W. Pierce, New York 151st writes home regarding regiments coming off of battle, citing one regiment that fought in five battles and were reduced from 1,000 to 300 soldiers., "there is everything under God's heaven to lead man astray." Pierce mustered in 8/11/62 and died at Harper's Ferry 8/10/1863. Very good content and condition.
