Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A stunning, seafoam green glass, shallow bowl with elegant wheel marks adorning the walls and incredible passages of silvery and rainbow iridescence. Just look at those fiery hues of pink, blue, green, and purple swirling amidst that silvery shimmer! Roman citizens used glass vessels like this one for every course of their evening meal, known as "cena." A vessel like this one could have been used during any course of a Roman meal, but it would have been ideal for laying out appetizers (the course called "gustum") such as cold meat or small fish for a tasty beginning to a delectable Roman meal. Size: 5.875" in diameter x 1.625" H (14.9 cm x 4.1 cm)
