Description
In excellent / mint condition, including storage boxes and certificates. Made of polystone, hand-painted by craftsmanship. The Son of Man (1964) Harry Torczyner commissioned this work in the summer of 1963 and the artist gave it to him in August 1964. Torczyner had asked Magritte to paint a self-portrait in the spirit of the self-portraits of two Flemish painters, Rubens and Ensor, on which the artists a hat is pictured. The title of the work was devised by the Belgian poet and prominent member of the Belgian surrealistic movement, Irène Hamoir.
