Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Two Jalisco bichrome pottery seated female figures, both wearing skirts, banded headdresses, round earspools, beaded necklaces, and armbands. One figure holds a bowl before her abdomen and the other holds a two-part clapper like instrument - similar to a large castanet. A lovely pair from the West Mexican shaft tomb tradition that complement one another quite well. Size: larger figure measures 10.125" H (25.7 cm)
