Description
Ancient Italy, Etruscan, ca. 625 to 600 BCE. A lovely polychrome oinochoe vessel presenting a striking silhouette with its piriform body, a long tapering neck of generous girth, a trefoil spout, and a strap handle joining rim to shoulder. Amplifying its beauty is the extensive decorative program featuring two bands of incised, overlapping, u-shaped motifs creating an attractive swag pattern over black pigment that are further adorned by added white dots; these registers are framed by red and black striations - and above them, four series of black frets adorn the shoulder. Complementing this are the black neck, spout, and high arched handle. Such a lovely piece! Size: 7.875" H (20 cm)
