Description
c1904 The Land of Oz L Frank Baum Wizard of Oz COLOR Illustrated Fiction Fantasy
Folklore, legends, myths and fairy tales have followed childhood through the ages, for every healthy youngster has a wholesome and instinctive love for stories fantastic, marvelous and manifestly unreal… It aspires to be a modernized fairy tale, in which the wonderment and joy are retained and the heartaches and nightmares are left out.
– L. Frank Baum, 1900.
‘The Marvelous Land of Oz’ was the sequel to the ‘Wizard of Oz’, first published in 1904. This book follows the story of the boy Tip and the Wicked Witch Mombi as Tip runs away from Mombi to find his destiny and encounters the famous characters Tin Man and Scarecrow along the way! This title was adapted in pop culture in television, comics, and even internationally in anime with an episode of The Shirley Temple Show in 1960, an animated series in Canada and Japan with the same name in 1986, in comic book form by Marvel Comics; once in 1975 in the Marvel Treasury of Oz series, and again in an eight issue series with the first issue being released in November 2009, and plot elements included in the 1985 Disney feature film Return to Oz!
This undated edition includes 12 color plates by John R Neill with end papers from life poses by the famous comedians, Montgomery and Stone!
