This cotton 1850's whig rose quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with cheddar colored reverse applique accents, background rosettes, and a vine border on two sides.
It measures a generous 98" X 100" and is very good condition, with the occasional small spot, light surface dirt in places, and a binding that is just beginning to show wear right at the edge.
The quilting is UNBELIEVABLE, with quilting around and within the applique and in elaborate triple straight line, leaf, heart, feathered wreath and other designs in the background, all at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is solid red, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
