Description
This lot consists of an unframed oil painting on canvas, done in the romantic style of Winston Churchill (English, 1874-1965). A hand-painted inscription at lower right corner reads, "Churchill". Image depicts a tropical water scene with mountains in the background. The artist has achieved a great sense of depth within the delicate ridges of the distant rock cliffs. A warm and enigmatic composition that would highlight any collection. This unframed piece measures approximately 16.5" x 20.75".
Reverse side of piece features a number of stamps which read, "Winston Churchill", "Galerie Mathias Fels, Paris", and "The copyright of this painting is the property of the artist and is strictly reserved".
Winston Churchill (English, 1874-1965) was one of the most noteworthy leaders in modern European history, especially of the WWII era. Churchill was a politician, army officer, writer, and amateur artist who took great pleasure in painterly pastimes.
