**Originally Listed At $250**

Central Europe, Italy, ca. late 15th to 16th century CE. An iron stiletto dagger with a gorgeous wood handle and narrow angular blade. The pommel boasts two wood fins at the end of the tang, and a circular spacer separates the pommel from the handle. The wooden handle has incised circles with central dots that run the length on both sides, and a iron guard angles upward to the sides of the narrow blade. The narrow blade has a needle-like tip making it the ideal weapon for stabbing deeply, and the angular blade cross section must have created wounds that were hard to mend. This is an elegant weapon, although it was often a sneaky tool for assassinations and later even used to measure the amount of gunpowder in cannons! Size: 9.62" L x 2.75" W (24.4 cm x 7 cm)

Provenance: ex- Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
