**First Time At Auction**
Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beautiful example of a ceremonial kris dagger exhibiting a painted wooden handle depicting a standing warrior with an intricate helmet and curly bangs. The brass spacer disc is embellished with nine glass inlays. The forged-steel blade has a straight profile that bulges slightly in the center, has a narrow fuller along the middle of the shoulder, and thick ribbons of lighter material throughout. The black-painted wooden sheath features a vertical stripe and a guard protector adorned in black and gilt checkerboard patterns that are outlined in red and filled with white pointillist circles. Size (w/ sheath): 6.7" W x 20.6" H (17 cm x 52.3 cm); (blade): 14.75" L (37.5 cm)

Condition
Top of sheath reattached to blade housing, with very small chips and adhesive residue along break lines. Nicks and minor abrasions to blade, sheath, and handle, and light fading to areas of original pigment and gilding. Great patina as well as nice remains of original pigment and gilding throughout.
