Auction also includes jewelry from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian & Art Deco periods. Antique and vintage jewelry in gold, gold filled, silver and costume.
Single Owner Fashion Archive - Session One
Approximately 650 lots in each of the two sessions. Our October 8th and 10th auctions with their combined 1,300 lots represent the single owner collection, fashion archive and inventory of collector and dealer Elaine Klausman. Antique 19th century pieces to modern, with every major fashion designer represented. Elaine states, "from the time I was 10 years old I knew I wanted a career in fashion. Growing up on a cattle farm in South Jersey was a million miles away from NYC, where I knew fashion was happening. So, I chose a NY fashion school. After graduating I had many jobs, all giving me a hands on education of fashion and its workings. A job in buying gave me an insider's view of high-end designers of the time. This started a love of couture that has lasted a lifetime. Some may call being a 'vintage clothing dealer' a job but to me it is life itself, my heart and soul. What I love about this "job" is that everyday is a treasure hunt. You wake up in the morning and have no idea where the day will lead. One day I found two Paul Poiret dresses in a paper bag in an attic! Another time, I got a phone call "are you interested in a collection of Whitney Houston's gowns?" Recently, I got to handle an 800+ piece collection of Nettie Rosenstein jewelry. Never one to be starstruck, since many celebs have crossed my path, a special highlight was when Law Roach bought a coat from me, it was such a thrill to take a picture with him. Now for the first time ever, I am offering a portion of my inventory and personal collection for auction!"
