Hello, I am very disappointed with Bonhams. The presentation of the lot (a collection of items) was misleading. For instance, the photo showed a sought-after vintage brochure folder in the center, but upon delivery, I discovered that the folder contained only two of the four brochures. The main issue, however, is that Bonhams does not offer shipping. I was forced to hire an external shipping company, and the costs were extremely high. The few available shipping companies do not really compete with one another and all charge exorbitant rates. For small lots, shipping costs can far exceed the price of the items themselves. Then — though this is not Bonhams 'fault — Brexit means I also have to pay import VAT and customs duties in continental Europe. Bonhams can keep their extremely expensive lots; The additional buyers premium is 32 %! I will only buy within the EU from now on. It is a shame, as I love English classic cars and automobila. I have sent messages through Live Auctioneers several times and they just ignore them. It is a month I have been waiting for the tracking number and no one answers my messages. Very poor customer service.

Very poor, dismiissive communication
I heard nothing from Bonhams when I purchased the painting. When I called, they were actually quite rude about it. They said saying they did not have my email address. When I tried to set up an account with them, I found that I already had an account with my correct email. I have made many purchases through Liveauctioneers and been satisfied. Bonhams is the first company that I have had to prod to receive information. Plenty of other fine auctions.

Catalog Photo Manipulation
Unfortunately, Bonhams altered the photo of the painting I purchased by amping up the color saturation to the point where the colors were different than the colors of the actual painting. When I contacted them regarding the alteration, they tried to convince me it was my computer that changed the colors which was a ridiculous attempt to shift blame away from their photography dept. practise of adjusting colors to enhance them or make them pop for the catalog to be more enticing/saleable. Very disappointing especially since I was ghosted when I refuted their theories for the discrepancy...

Bonhams took 2 months to ship a plaque to me. It shipped with the support of LiveAuctioneers.
Very poor customer service all around. A painful experience. I had to use LiveAuctioneers to resolve the issues.

Problem free experience
Everything went smooth with this auction. Bonhams is a top business to deal with. Item was accurately advertised and quickly turned over to the shipper after payment. I used Global Pack and Ship, one of Bonhams recommended shippers. I found them very responsive and quick and they did an exceptional job in packing my item securely. Overall an excellent auction experience.

Paid Never Received
Take caution when dealing with Bonhams, they are not the house of old. Won four items through their London office, and after several weeks finally received complete invoice, and when paid, the office refused to help in any way to deliver the very expensive watches. They still sit in England somewhere and I am out a few thousand dollars. Beware.

Be careful increasing your bid-I ended up bidding against myself. Can't get it corrected.
Be very careful increasing your bid-I discovered that by doing so I ended up bidding against myself, thereby paying double the amount the last competitive bidder against me. I cannot contact Bonhams about this error and to get it corrected.

Dishonest auction
100 % this was a scam from the start. Instead of putting an accurate description this auction carefully worded everything to scam the buyers. I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with live auctioneers but this will be my last purchase due to the amount of dishonesty here. I just had my item picked up by a good friend of mine who wasted 8 hours of his life to pick up junk. I highly doubt Gene Hackman displayed this item in his gameroom. I’m disgusted how dishonest this world has become to make a dollar. Good job hall succeeded at screwing me over. I’m definitely glad I didn’t fall for the over 3k shipping quote. This would have been an Almost 10k loss had I let y’all ship this piece if junk. Yall successfully helped live auctioneers lose a great customer

There was a 32 % buyer’s premium, and no service attached, very unwelcoming
There was a 32 % buyer’s premium, I picked up my picture at a loading dock on a cafeteria sized table, unpackaged and was told that I may use the packing paper to wrap the picture. No tape, string or otherwise and don’t try to tell me that the 32 % buyer’s premium is used to defray online marketing costs, or any costs for that matter.
