This purchase was better than expected. When it arrived, I found out it was actually NOS! (Still had the shipping material between the wheel trucks and the Body). What a GREAT find!

Lionel PreWar Train Set, Tested and in fully operational condition. Engine 1688E is in C-8 condition, Tender is in C-5 condition, the other cars are in C-5 + condition. First the train was not in fully operational. The train has a broken wheel and the only thing that works is the light. The tender is missing the coupler to connect to the locomotive, so it’s not operational. Cagle Auction Co. Stated that he doers not use TCA standards. However he uses the same type of grading structure C-8, C5, C5 +... etc. If this was the case he should be using Very good, good, fair, or poor in his description. Not C-8, C5 + and C5 which are associated with the TCA Standards. I was going to file a shipping claim for the broken wheel and for the engine not running. But after looking at the wheel looks like ware damage, if this is the case I have questions on it the unit ever run. My point is that this train set was misrepresented in the description. The train was never fully operational.

Cagle Auction did a great job representing the products. You don’t know how well an auction house is until you run into an issue. When I received my orders there was one item I had an issue with. Cagle auctions stood by their word and made it right. You never know how good an auction house is until you have an issue. They honored their word I will definitely use them again.

I am a passionate collector of Edgefield stoneware and cannot recommend Cagle Auction highly enough! As Edgefield pottery becomes harder to find due to its age and growing demand, I rely on reputable auction houses to add to my collection. Living in Lexington, SC, the nearest auction house is almost two hours away, so I primarily participate online. Given the weight of Edgefield pieces, shipping costs are high, and I rarely have the opportunity to preview items in person. Because of this, accurate descriptions are critical. Unfortunately, I have experienced disappointing purchases from other auction houses where the condition was misrepresented. That has NEVER been the case with Cagle Auction. I trust Brandon’s descriptions completely, and his honesty and professionalism stand out in this field. What makes Cagle even more exceptional is Brandon’s deep personal knowledge of Southern stoneware. He is not just an auctioneer but a true collector and expert. If he doesn’t know the maker of a piece, he will either consult his network or simply state that it is unknown. On several occasions, he has even helped me identify the makers of items from my own collection — not purchased through Cagle — which speaks volumes about his commitment to collectors. Many collectors are hardworking, middle-class individuals who save carefully to pursue this passion. It’s incredibly frustrating when an item isn’t as described. Brandon’s transparency and dedication to customer care mean everything. Recently, he even arranged — without me asking — for a fellow collector to transport a piece to me, saving me hundreds in shipping. Thank you, Brandon and Cagle Auction, for your expertise, honesty, and true support of the collecting community!

Besides have wonderful auction items to bid on in their recent folk/outsider artist sale, the process was simple and efficient, and the shipping agent, Satana Shipping, was absolutely terrific and reasonably priced. (I didn't realize how heavy my Tubby Brown painting/carving was!) I'd definitely return to Cagle for future auctions.

When I contacted Mr. Cagle about an issue with one item he responded almost as some as he received my question. I feel he is a very honest person, and his auctions are great so I will bid again.

Items as described but there is now an online payment fee charged through live auctioneers. By the going you pay the premium, the payment processing fee and the sales tax the total is up another 30 %. Insane

Wonderful Auction and easy to work with.

I bid on items through live auctioneers and was fortunate enough to win a lot of gorgeous Aesthetic Movement pieces. The process was unbelievably easy and when I needed to figure out where to pick up my items (it was in the same town as I live), the email I sent was answered extremely quickly. When I picked up my items, Brandon was very cordial and professional. He showed me around a bit which was a delight since I'm an avid collector. I will definitely be a returning customer, and highly recommend this auction company that I feel is trustworthy and reputable.
