First people should know that Blue Lake seems to work hand in hand with Fagan, an antique dealer with a known reputation in the antique sword collecting community. The packaging box even had Fagan's sticker on the side when it arrived. The item is not as it was described. The blade is not original to the hilt. The knuckle bow, pommel, and guard all belong together, but the dish-guard appears to be from something different entirely and appears to have been darkened with a chemical bluing solution-by the look and by the smell. There is traces of epoxy at the joints of all the grip parts to hold it all together. The peen at the pommel is polished shiny and has definitely been reassembled. A friend of mine is a vet tech and I'll have the handle xrayed soon. Whoever disassembled and reassembled the item did so skillfully, but with totally different parts. This was in no way reflected in the auction description.

First time purchasing from Blue Lake Auctions and everything went smoothly. The item is a bit lighter in weight than I expected, but that's maybe due to me not reading the description properly. It's a beautiful piece and comes with explanation of how it's been restored, plus a certificate. A lovely item and an easy purchase process for this auction house. I would definitely buy from them again.
