The object was exactly as described and I got it for a fair price. I went to pick it up in person and that was also easy. The staff on site were helpful and honestly fun to talk to. The issues I had were all technical-when I arrived, the auction house didn't have any technology working, so I had to pay in cash (luckily I brought some), take a hand-written receipt, and so on. The computers had just gone down, and they still haven't updated the LiveAuctioneers site to show that I have paid and picked up the work. I made sure to get a receipt and document my visit, which they were happy to do and helpful with, but the technology side of things isn't functioning well and their interface with LiveAuctioneers isn't great. Sounds like it's not their ideal way to work, and I can understand that. I was a bit nervous given the rest of the reviews, but I didn't have any problems with their honesty or fairness. I showed up, got the work I won in the condition they said it was in for the price I bid, and walked out with a receipt.

This is a fraudulent auction house. I successfully won Lot 219 in their July 17th auction. I paid the invoice the very next day and arranged for a shipping company to pick up the item. However, the shipper informed me that the auction house refused to release the item, falsely claiming that I hadn't paid. I then provided proof of my payment. The shipping company attempted to collect the item again, but the auction house still refused to release it. When I called them, they claimed I never won the item and told me to contact the platform. To this day, I have received no response. This is a fraudulent auction company!

the auctikn house received the paynent and then stated that they have not received the money and refused my agent to pick up.

I won 2 beautiful art glass vases in the December 19th auction. Upon receiving the vase one was perfect and one, Lot 0442: RICHARD SATAVA HARVEST MOON ART GLASS VASE, had a chip in the lip of vase that was painted over with blue paint that matched the color of the vase. I contacted the auction house and they told me “all of our items are sold in "as is" condition, and it is incumbent upon the buyer to inquire about an item's condition before bidding. Sloans & Kenyon provides condition reports prior to our auctions”. I’m an online bidder and looking at the vase online you can’t see the chip in the vase because it was disguised. I’m not accusing the gallery of painting over the chip but any good auction house would have disclosed that damage knowing that it would affect the bidding price. I am extremely displeased and will never use this auction house again!

I attended and bid live at the online auction held by Sloans and Kenyon. I continually bid higher than competing bidders until I won the auction. There were several fair warning alerts at the end and I was declared the winning bidder. The winning bid amount I made was $700. I still have the item in my Liveauctioneers account showing as won at that price. I then waited several days for the invoice but never received it so contacted auction house several times. First told to check my spam folder in email. Then eventually told that I did not win the auction though I was present during online auction and saw that I did win in addition to having it designated as a win in my Liveauctioneers account. The auction house is now trying to claim that I lost the auction by 1 bid for an additional $50 and that it is a Liveauctioneers error for which they are not to be held responsible. Not true since I was present online as the auction proceeded, saw what actually transpired as I won the item at that price with no additional bids after me. If I had not won at that price I would happily have bid higher if needed as I really liked the painting up for bid. Sloans & Kenyon auction house has many bad reviews online and now I see why. Liveauctioneers should not hold future auctions with this company as they are completely unorganized to say the least but more likely following unethical business practices. Please don't bid on items with this auction house for your sake. If Liveauctioneers does not remedy this situation or at least remove them from their platform, so that they don't deceive anymore bidders, then I would worry about placing future bids on Liveauctioneers as well. I have been an active Liveauctioneer member for many years but find this situation very disheartening.

This auction house is local to me and I've dealt with them for years. All transactions have been professional. They do a good job.

The vendor at the top of the list of shippers provided by the auction house wanted $440. The lowest bid was $129 including pickup (fair and accurate, but arrived after I had arranged with another vendor, and to be fair to auction house/other shipping vendor, I stuck with it). Upon receipt, I realized the quote I had accepted ended up having a * huge * markup over UPS actual prices, and the size of the box it arrived in was smaller than what my receipt shows. I had accepted the quote, so it's what it is, but when I entered info to my own UPS account to verify rate after the fact, I learned their shipping charge alone (NOT including the charge for packing/materials/wrapping, which was admittedly reasonable) was slightly more than DOUBLE what I could have gotten if I bought the label myself. It's price gouging, and very disappointing. So, my advice is to wait for all quotes, ask questions, and assume you will still be paying way more than you should. I copied all correspondences with auction house but they never reached out to me.
