I have been buying from the Lloyd Ralston Gallery for 35 years. Items are always well described and the Ralston family is always a pleasure to deal with.

Bidding, Payment, and Shipping were very efficiently handled.

Description for one item totally wrong, described as C8-9, was totally damaged and missing parts. Shipped cardboard sets "on edge" causing damage to tabs and boxes. Should have been secured.

Auction items are "staged". Their set to look good. The photos don't show the flaws or damage. Their descriptions are vague. And when confronted by hiding the flaws, they take no responsibility. Bidders beware!

The items won were in pristine condition and arrived in a timely manner in a well-packed box. The entire process, from view to bid to payment to receipt of items, was smooth and I would gladly do business with this auction house again.

Caboose No. 717 had wrong couplers (not scale, sprung or with couplers attached). Slight defects in the cars offered were mentioned, but there was no mention of this more serious issue. Also, MY BID of $110 was followed by a COMPETITIVE BID of $120, after which I submitted MY BID of $130. After that there was not another COMPETITIVE BID shown. Yet MY BID kept on increasing in $10 increments twenty more times, not by any action on my part, from $140 to $330, when it should have stopped at $130. I called Lloyd Ralston and was told that there was also floor bidding going on, but that does not explain why any COMPETITIVE BID was shown as MY BID. I did not see a string of MY BIDS, without any COMPETITIVE BIDS in between, for any of the more than 500 other lots offered at this auction, or at a following auction..

I have attended auctions online and in person and find Ralston friendly and professional. Always a great selection of items.
