Hey there Steve-this is Rob Vogt, owner of Vogt Auction. Really sorry about your negative shipping experience. I'll tell you, shipping is the most difficult aspect of our business. We really want to provide as much help as we can to our out-of-town buyers, but there doesn't seem to be any silver bullet, as we've tried all the 'normal' services and solutions, and still we get inconsistent quotes from the various providers. I can tell you honestly that we don't mark up anything with shipping, no fake service fees or anything like that-we've never made a dollar on the shipping piece of our business. But, we keep trying to get this dialed in! I understand why a lot of auction houses simply don't mess with it at all, and buyers are on their own to make shipping arrangements. Anyway, appreciate your business, and thanks again for your review and feedback.

You're right-firearms shipping does present some special challenges, however I'm wondering if you might share with us the method the other auction houses have used to send a firearm to Alaska for around $60, because we'd definitely switch to that in the future! I can tell you in all honesty we do not make a dime on shipping, we don't charge a fee for it ourselves, it's all us referring to third parties and they generate the quote. We don't get a kickback from these companies either. We're just trying to provide our out-of-town buyers a simple shipping solution for their convenience. So again, would love to hear who you would recommend we use for shipping and we’ll start working with them instead. As for the negative attitude you got from our staff member, there's no excuse there-my sincere apologies. And again, appreciate your feedback-Rob

Hey there Michael-well, yes, completely agree that's a ridiculous quote on that shipping job. Just to be clear, was it Arta that asked for $112 to ship this coin to you? Doesn't make sense to me, and I'm just as frustrated as you that this would happen. We're trying to find a reasonable and reliable method to provide buyers like you an easy shipping solution, and lots of folks use Arta so we thought we'd give them a try. Also, just for the record-we do not make anything on shipping-it's all third-party. In any case, so sorry about this.
