Although I love the drawing I bought, and I got it at a low price, I don't think I've ever been as horrified by the conduct of an auction. Items were opened and then closed in seconds, often going to the first bidder with no time for another to jump in. I estimate that 80 % of all the items in the sale were passed, and many of those that weren't passed were nearly given away. A _J. C. Leyendecker_ sketch sold for $200-when even the weakest JCLs usually sell for thousands. As I was madly punching the button to raise the bid, the item closed. And this was a consignment auction. I wonder what the owners of the consigned pieces are thinking now. OMG, what a travesty. I might buy from Rhyton again for the chance to pick up a treasure for pennies, but no way would I ever even think about selling with Rhyton. YMMV. I did receive my purchase in good order and I love it. But I still shudder to think of what rushed before my eyes during that sale and how I missed out on getting a Leyendecker for $275 because Rhyton was in such a rush to give it away for $200.

When you look at the quantity of these drawings on old paper, authenticity and deception must be brought into question as well as if some of these galleries have knowledge?

I found an artwork by the artist I had been looking for. Fair price and easy process.

Not only have I since seen the EXACT same items for sale for a fraction of the price (meaning they are selling cheap forgeries), but THEY STILL HAVE NOT SHIPPED THE ITEMS I PAID FOR IN FULL. No responses to my multiple emails, no help, no offers to make things right. It'll be a long time before I trust an auction house again. Run away while you still can.

I received a lovely artwork! also the customer service was so friendly and helpful. Shipping was so fast by UPS.

Buyer Beware: while Rhyton does specify under the headline "In the style of," the summary of the item still makes one assume that the work might be made by the artist. IT IS NOT. In my case I stupidly bid on "Kara Walker" artwork without fully reading the description, I also bid low so I did not expect to win. I won in both cases. It took almost two months to receive the work (Rhyton gallery works with a UPS store that is unresponsive at best). Once I finally received the art, I sent images of the work to Kara Walker's gallery. Their Kara Walker expert told me that yes the work was in fact fake. I then did some research and all across the web Rhyton is known for producing fakes. For me okay, I was fooled, lesson learned! My fear is that all of this fake work is out there and people will honestly believe that they have work by a well-known artist. Live Auctioneers should remove Rhyton from their website.

This review regards a painting that was represented as a Jean Gabriel Domergue, which won/purchased, from Rhyton Gallery (Live Auctioneers), February 21, 2021. Rhyton Gallery is offering another "Domergue", for auction, December 5, 2021. The sole intent of my bid was for an original Jean Gabriel Domergue painting. Based on Rhyton Gallery's representation, plus artist signature authentication, assumption was that Rhyton Gallery (and Live Auctioneers) operated at a level of integrity commensurate with similar international auction houses. Steps to certify painting authentication led me to contact Galerie de Souzy (Paris), due to their experience with Domergue offerings. In turn, they referred me, and I contracted with, Noe W. (Paris), for a review and letter of verification. Mr. W is the worlds leading authority on JG Domergue art. Net result-the painting was not an original. With bid payment received, Rhyton Gallery, 'took the money and ran'. Live Auctioneers listened, reviewed my compliant, followed up, but then all went silent. I bid with the impression this was an original painting, yet neither party has provided direction to rectify this situation. The lack of integrity on behalf of Rhyton Gallery (Ray H.-the owner), their signature authenticator and Live Auctioneers showed collective misrepresentation. Regarding the "Domergue" for the upcoming LA auction on December 5, 2021, Rhyton Gallery has significantly scaled back representation of the painting. Signature authentication is no longer mentioned and they indirectly state the offering is a knock-off. BEWARE: Customer service and business ethics have no correlation with a winning bid.

In the description of the artwork, Rhyton said that a certificate of authenticity (COA) would be provided. It was not sent. I contacted them and they said there was no COA for this artwork. This contradicts the description in the auction. If I would have known no COA was coming, I would not have bid on the work. They said, if I gave the a 5 star evaluation, they would help me obtain a COA, at additional cost to me. This is WRONG. INVALUABLE should not support any auctions by RHYTON gallery. Buyers be VERY aware of their conduct!!! The artwork was left on my porch without a signature.

Vera accurate description of the item I won. Super heavy sterling silver that I paid for!

I was looking for a yellow sapphire and I couldn't find anything below $1, 500 with the same certificate and quality. I was lucky to find what I was looking for at this auction house online. Very petty gem for a good price!

This was my first time purchasing from Rhyton Gallery and I had a really good experience. Want to mention that the description of the item I received was very accurate. Also, customer service and their shipping vendor were very professional. Strongly recommend them!

Item was described as “Drawing on paper …” and the photo of the item was on cream colored paper. The item received was a print on white paper. Tried to resolve through Live Auction. The gallery stalls and stalls, then says that the auctioneer assures that the item was an original drawing. The gallery does not reply through Live Auction, probably to hide their tracks. I would never bid on an item from this gallery again, and would recommend that if you have not seen the item in person, do not consider bidding. Read their terms! Realize that they are well written to protect a shady business. They will accept no responsibility to accurately describe their artwork, and will simply keep your money. Stay away! Stay away!

Keep up the good service, very hard to come by these days in the difficult times we are all experiencing.

Two paintings purchased with a stated 10 out of 10 Certificate Of Authenacy were Forgeries. They were copied from a recently published book. Rhyton Gallery has refused to return payment. They state that they only "attributed" the work to the artist and did not state it was of the artist. I am seeking further redress.
