Onslows was established in 1984 and specializes in the sale of Vintage Advertising and Travel Posters, Propaganda Posters of the two World Wars. We were pioneers in the development of the market in vintage posters, they now recognized as a serious collecting area and attract buyers from all corners of the World. Prices for the most collectible posters have seen meteoric growth. Over the past thirty-three years we have sold many remarkable collections of posters. Notable discoveries include the Â£200,000 worth of London and North Eastern Railway posters stored under a station platform in Norfolk; another similar collection found under the bed of a railwaymen's widow sold for Â£300,000 and then there was the London Taxi driver who had what he called an art gallery in his attic this turned out to be a rare find of original artwork for Railway posters. And most recently the man from Dublin who found a roll of White Star Line posters in a roof space, these sold for £20,000. In 2014 the Centenary of the outbreak of the First World War we sold the iconic poster "Britons Lord Kitchener wants you" for a record £27,000. The same year saw another record price of £15,000 for the World War 2 poster Keep Calm and Carry On. Auctions of posters have benefited greatly from the internet, which has opened up the market for posters to a worldwide audience of collectors.
