I won a lot that was both small in size and cost, so I was surprised to receive an invoice in which the "in-house shipping" estimate was more than three times its final price. I contacted Absolute to verify that it was correct and, if so, ask for recommendations for local shippers. Absolute immediately responded and clarified that (i) LiveAuctioneers had provided its own independent shipping estimate with the invoice (but not labeled it as such); (ii) Absolute also thought the estimate was exorbitant; and (iii) Absolute could ship for $9.95, an extraordinarily low cost even given the other factors. Of course, I happily agreed to this, and I received the item a few days later in pristine condition. I will actively seek out Absolute auctions in the future because of this positive experience.
