Proudly based in Chicago, Armstrong Fine Art presents its 13th auction, featuring prints from Landfall Press, the iconic printmaking studio founded by Jack Lemon in 1970. Through lot 144, we offer prints from Jack Lemon?s personal collection, including long-sold-out works and studio proofs. Drawing from Chicago?s diverse art scene, Lemon introduced hundreds of artists to printmaking, helping generations innovate under his credo: ?if the artist is all in ? we?ll do it.? In operation for more than five decades, Landfall Press built an impressive roster that includes Christo, William Wiley, H.C. Westermann, Jack Tworkov, Tony Fitzpatrick, Robert Lostutter, Judy Chicago, and members of the Chicago Imagist school, including Ed Paschke, Karl Wirsum, and Roger Brown. This postwar sale then shifts gears to offer strong selections by New York Pop Art icons Andy Warhol and his prot?g?, Steve Kaufman, as well as other NY artists. Complementing these works, we offer intaglios and lithographs by modern and contemporary European and American artists working in both representational and abstract traditions. We close out our sale by featuring another strong collection of Landfall Press prints, drawn from private and public collections, including a group of print sold by, and to benefit Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), which has served the city and its students since 1983. The work I bought is even more nicer than the photos. But even better was the absolutely perfect post-purchase service I received from Armstrong Gallery. As I was buying from overseas, they worked with me to make payment easy. They then held shipping to allow me time to return home to receive the package. I've rarely seen anything wrapped so professionally or had service that was so responsive, helpful and personal. I'm very grateful and recommend Armstrong with enthusiasim.
