Session I Friday, March 24, Auction begins 5:00 pm - lots 001 - 248 Session II Saturday, March 25, Auction begins 9:00 am - lots 249-910 Our March 2017 auction is represented by a two day offering of a broad selection of consignments. Featuring: The Estate of Marjorie and Charles West The late Marjorie and Charles West of Atlanta, Georgia, established the West Foundation as a conduit of philanthropy through which their generosity to Georgia Institutions benefitted the High Museum with more than one hundred works of 19th century American Art and over forty examples of Neoclassical sculptures. Through their gift, the High Museum has one of the most significant holdings of Neoclassical sculpture in the United States. Mrs. West was also a discerning collector of Meissen ceramics and was a founding member of the Ceramic Circle in Atlanta. Brunk Auctions is pleased to offer over eighty watercolors and fifty plus examples of American ceramics from the West collection. The watercolor collection broadly encompasses 19th century Hudson River School works, 20th century works by Thomas Hart Benton as well as two fine watercolors by contemporary artist Stephen Scott Young, one of which graces the front cover of the catalog. While this collection is primarily represented by American artists, it does include a few exceptions notably an important watercolor by Thomas Faed titled Sir Walter Raleigh and His Literary Friends at Abbotsford.
