An exceptional gathering featuring rare and early books and manuscripts, fine modern press books, bibliographies, and much more. Among the many highlights are a folio Bible printed in 1478 by Anton Koberger, in the original binding; a collection of eight manuscripts on astronomy written in Hebrew in the mid-16th century; Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe and its two sequels, all in first edition, 1719-1720; an autograph manuscript by Walt Whitman titled “Democracy,” with a signed portrait; runs of fine press books from the Allen, Arion, Gregynog and other fine presses; the Nicholas Rowe edition of the Works of William Shakespeare, 7 volumes, 1709-1710; A New Universal Atlas, by David H. Burr, 1835, with 63 hand-colored engraved maps, including 24 which pertain to the United States; first edition of Alcoholics Anonymous, inscribed and signed by Bill W. (AA co-founder William Wilson); and many others.
