The Naylor Collection

For more than half a century, Thurman "Jack" Naylor has been amassing an unprecedented collection of thousands of items covering the many aspects of photography. Smithsonian Magazine, in a nine page article written about this Collection in 1987, described it as "unique" and "the most comprehensive in existence." Categories in the Naylor Collection include Cameras, Images (photographic prints from such legendary photographers as Edward Curtis, Mathew Brady, Margaret Bourke-White and "Doc" Edgerton), Stereoviewers, Espionage, Rare Books and the Daguerreian Period with rare Daguerreian cameras and more than one thousand of the rarest daguerreotypes. An extensive auction catalogue was printed and is available from Guernsey's. Corrections to the catalogue have graciously been provided by accomplished experts including Eaton Lothrop, Helda Costa, Ralph & Bobbie London, Rob Niederman, Stephen Shohet, Milan Zahorcak and Wayne Cogan. Should you have any questions prior to bidding on any of the nearly two thousand lots, please contact Guernsey's. Thank you. Guernsey's: 1-212-794-2280; www.guernseys.com; auctions@guernseys.com
