Jazz Reference Books, Ephemera and Records
*** PLEASE NOTE *** We are launching the first half of this auction on Friday, November 9th and will be launching the second half of the catalog on Monday, November 11th. The second half will include many important signed items including a book signed by 19 famous jazz musicians (such as Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway) and a 78rpm record set signed by Count Basie and members of his orchestra. This auction is the second auction of three, during which we will sell approximately 5,000 jazz-related books with some selected 78rpm record additions and other vinyl. The books are from the collection of California dealer Arthur Newman who sold jazz reference materials and albums for over 40 years. Approximately 2/3 of the collection includes his retail inventory while the balance was has personal reference library. Many discographies, important volumes and signatures are included. The second half will also include some important violin reference books from another consignment and a number of interesting and important other books and groups from area estates and consignments. *** PLEASE READ ***: We have found in the course of selling thousands of lots on eBay Live, that on rare occasion, the final bidder information is not correctly recorded on eBay. Some items which were actually won by floor bidders are sometimes listed as being won by eBay bidders, and vice versa. We assume this is the result of the volume of data that is being transfered simultaneously and inevitable technical imperfections. We are diligent to accurately enter the final bid information, but these occasional discrepancies seem unavoidable. We guarantee all items to be as represented, please apply your own judgment and expertise to any characteristics beyond those we have specifically stated as these items are selling as-is. We recommend attending our live preview before each auction. 20% buyer's premium will apply. Buyer pays for fixed shipping (amount indicated within each listing), FOB within the US by USPS Media Mail. International orders may require mandatory insurance. If you are an international buyer, and are concerned about shipping cost, please contact us before bidding. Domestic insurance is available at $1.30 per $50.00 coverage, rates for international insurance can be quite volatile, so please ask for a quote. NOTE: all shipments with a total hammer value of $200.00 or greater will require mandatory insurance coverage and that charge will be added to the shipping amount on the invoices. All packages shipping to a New York address, or picked up at the auction location, will be subject to New York State 8% sales tax unless a valid New York State Re-Sale or Tax Exempt Certificate is presented.
