PWC Art featuring the Benton Collection

LAMA is honored to present Material Play: The Collection of Roberta & Fletcher Benton, representing the vision and legacy of the world-renowned artist Fletcher Benton and his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Benton. Rising to prominence in the 1960s, Benton is celebrated for his pioneering kinetic and large-scale geometric sculpture, vivid and dynamic abstractions that were among the most cutting-edge works of the era. This collection, assembled over decades, reflects both Benton's creative vision with works from artists like Pol Bury and Bernar Venet, as well as the Bentons' unique cultural milieu, with works from fellow Bay Area and California artists including Mel Ramos, Judy Kensley McKie, David Gilhooly, Roy De Forest, Garry Knox Bennett, Billy Al Bengston, and more. Post War & Contemporary Art on February 25th offers an exemplary selection of painting, prints, sculpture, and more from defining artists of the past 100 years. Among the highlights are late-career works by John Mason from the artist's collection, alongside sculpture from Claire Falkenstein, Peter Alexander, Vasa, and Guy Dill, as well as exemplary painting and works on paper from Helen Lundeberg, Robert Combas, Peter Saul, Max Cole, Raimonds Staprans, Sam Francis, Cameron (Marjorie Cameron), Richard Pettibone, and more.
