Two-Day Estates Auction

Our December Estate Auction will include a vast array of items selected for Holiday gift giving, as well as furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, an excellent selection of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, exceptional selections of objects of art, estate and designer jewelry and an outstanding assortment of estate Oriental rugs. The furniture selection will comprise the Louis XV, XVI, Henri II, Regence’, Empire and Provincial styles of France; Chippendale, Queen Anne, Elizabethan, William IV, Victorian and Edwardian styles of England; and a nice selection of 19th century American furniture. Included is a 72 inch diameter benchmade William IV style burled Pollard oak center or dining table; an elaborate gilt detailed carved fruitwood marble top figural console table; a boldly detailed Elizabethan style carved oak court cupboard; a late 19th century Louis XV provincial style carved walnut two-door wine cabinet; and an Italian renaissance style walnut two-door side cabinet. This comprehensive sale will showcase an excellent array of 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th century fine art, including art works by Louis Cleese, Diuseppe Signorini, Marcus Stone, Van Nutelli Scipione, Pecchio Domenico, 17th century follower of Carlo Maratta; and many, many others, including a 19th century Italian school oil on panel depicting “St. Francis, the Virgin Mary and Child”, and an 18th century Italian school sepia sketch in an elaborate Italian gilded bronze frame of “The Ascension of the Virgin”. Also offered will be a fine selection of ivory, including a 26 inch pair of Chinese carved ivory figures of an emperor and empress on thrones, a large and magnificently carved Chinese basket of chrysanthemums with suspended puzzle ball handle; a carved ivory group of a scholar, two children, a deer and an egret; a set of three carved ivory figures of Immortals and a finely matched pair of ivory tusks. Additionally featured is a finely crafted jasper, onyx and vermeil chess set by Carl Igor Faberge’; a Handel table lamp with hand-painted “chipped ice” domed shade and patinated bronze base; a large, signed 19th century well-carved Spanish gilded and decorated crucifix; a17th century Austrian/Italian carved cirmolo pine sculpture of St. Joseph; a magnificently detailed and scarce Edward M. Bohlin custom-made sterling silver mounted parade saddle; a nice group of bronzes, marble sculpture and porcelains, including examples of Meissen, Sevres, Royal Copenhagen, Dresden, Shceibe-Alsbach, Volkstedt and Von Shcierholz; together with sets of china, crystal, sterling silver and silverplate, mirrors and lamps, as well as an impressive group of estate and designer jewelry. Finally, a wonderful selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included, together with a brown bear rug and an African lioness rug, both with full heads.
