LEGENDARY HELEN MOE DOLL MUSEUM AUCTION

Rare French, German & American dolls offered for Auction on Saturday January 21st and Sunday January 22nd as the lifetime collection of Helen Moe is offered by Santa Margarita Auctions. The auction will take place "on location" at 88 Wellsona Road Paso Robles California. (Four miles north of Paso Robles at US 101 and Wellsona Road) With the support of her husband and family, Helen avidly collected dolls over a 50 year span, assembling one of the finest collections on the West Coast. The collection will be sold to the highest bidders, including very rare and unusual dolls in the collection. French makers to include Bru, Jumeau, SFBJ, Schmitt, Steiner, Jullien, Mascotte, Belton and Fashions. Numerous German makers represented to include Kestner, Kammer & Reinhardt, Simon Halbig, Heubach, Handerwick, Alt, Beck & Gottschalk, Bahr & Proschild, Bruno Schmidt, Franz Schmidt, Armand Marseille and others. American makers repressented to include Ideal, Effanbee, Horsman, Madame Alexander, Schoenhut, Fulper and other early compositions. The oldest doll in the museum is a 400 year old wooden play doll known as Stump Doll. The history recorded on an old piece of paper says "This doll is believed to have belonged to Edward VI, son of Henry VIII c.1540." Other rarieties to include Automations, early wood, wax and metal dolls, Schoenhut circus and Merry-go-round, numerous early china head dolls, Santas, plus a large selection of toys, clothing and doll accessories. On Saturday the most rare French, German and American dolls and accessories will be sold. Sunday's sale will include numerous collector dolls, gift shop items, display cases, antique furniture, and remaining bisque and composition dolls and accessories.
