Two-Day Fine Estate Auction
Our first auction of the new year will include furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, including the Louis XV, XVI, Henry II Empire and Provincial styles of France; Chippendale, Sheraton, Victorian, Hepplewhite and Edwardian styles of England. This comprehensive sale will showcase an excellent array of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, including works by Adrian Backer, Laszlo Neogrady, Juan Guillermo, Antal Berkes, Lajos Markos, K. Bela Spanyi, Janos Laszlo Aldor, Alfredo Ramos Martinez, a 19th century work after Raphael entitled "Madonna de Granduca"; and many others, including two important large full- length portraits by Ettore Servaroli, one of George Washington and the other of Abraham Lincoln, which were commissioned by 20th Century Fox for the critically acclaimed 1944 movie "Wilson". Included will be an outstanding selection of 19th and 20th century Chinese and Japanese carved ivory figures and groups, including a large carved and pierced Chinese ivory boat, over 17 inches in length, a pair of finely carved ivory tusks modeled as an Emperor and Empress, as well as a superb carved European ivory triptych modeled as a figure of a renaissance queen, signed and dated 1702. Also included is a delicately crafted art nouveau crystal and silvered bronze hinged box, circa 1890; an exceptional bronze dore' and silvered bronze bombe' jewelry box, circa 1880. Additionally featured is a superb group of bronzes, marble sculpture, sets of china, crystal, an extensive and fine selection of antique and modern sterling silver and silverplate, including a Paul Storr silver wine cooler dated 1816, and a magnificent pair of silverplated reticulated vintage design wine coolers. Porcelains, include a pair of rococo revival Old Paris mantel urns, circa 1860, a pair of well-decorated Dresden capped vases and a good gilt bronze mounted Sevres porcelain pedestal centerpiece, circa 1880; also mirrors, chandeliers, candelabra, lamps and other objects of art, including an exceptional enamel and gilded sterling chess set, the game board embellished with pearls, garnets and jade; a scarce late 19th century French bronze dore;' and glass cased crystal liqueur set. Additionally to be offered is a 1999 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud with less than 15,000 miles. Finally, a collection of estate and designer jewelry and a wonderful selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included.
