Hart Galleries' April auction will include furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, including the Louis XIII, XV (including an elegant and finely carved walnut marquise, circa 1890-1900) and Louis Philippe, Renaissance Revival, Empire, and Provincial styles of France, including a handsome carved walnut five-door/two-drawer buffet a deux corps; the Chippendale, Sheraton, Regency (including a large and fine mahogany leather top drum table, circa 1840), Victorian (including a good Lancashire mahogany 3-door wardrobe of inverted breakfront design, circa 1880 and an elegant marquetry inlaid carved walnut credenza with mirrored superstructure and base, circa 1880) and Georgian styles of England; Italian renaissance revival, including two finely carved walnut pedestal end buffets with shell detailed small superstructure, both circa 1900; as well as many fine American pieces. Also of note is an impressive 96 inch height English carved oak and stained glass pub bar. This comprehensive sale will showcase an excellent array of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, including works by F. M. Richter-Reich, Porfirio Salinas (an early example of his work), Melvin C. Warren, followers of Jacobo Tintoretto, two Claude Gelee' AKA Claude Lorraine, many 19th century school paintings, a selection of Japanese woodblock prints and many, many other fine works. Objects d' art include a fine, large and well-carved celadon jade sculpture of an immortal holding an elaborate ceremonial lance from the first half of the 20th century; a bronze dore' and rouge marble bust figured ink stand modeled by Louis Ernest Barrias (French, 1841-1905); a finely painted miniature on ivory signed J.F. Berg and dated 1823; and a fine 18 inch hand-crafted Norfolk pine bottle form vase signed by 20th century Hawaiian-American artist Ron Kent. Also included will be fine examples of porcelain, including an extensive 147-piece Bernardaud Limoges cobalt and gold decorated dinner service for 12 in the "Bergennes" pattern and a scarce Boehm limited edition sculpture of a whooping crane; bronzes, marble sculpture, china and crystal, including an elegant pair of Lalique frosted art glass figures of mute swans; an extensive group of antique and modern sterling silver and silverplate, including a signed six-piece hand-crafted sterling tea and coffee service and an extensive and fine 156-piece set of Christofle "Marly" pattern silverplated flatware for 12; clocks, including a ¾ life-size carved walnut figure of a young man bound to a tree and modeled as a clock, signed K. Stillejo and a selection of 19th century English mahogany mantel and polished brass carriage designs; candelabra, lamps, selections of commemorative and limited edition swords, cutlasses, fantasy pocket and hunting knives and daggers; and an 8-tune Orpheus Ideal Excelsior oak-cased cylinder music box, circa 1890-1900. Finally, a collection of estate and designer jewelry and a wonderful selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included.
