Hal Hunt Auctions specializes in selling lifetime collections of high-end American antiques from many well-known makers, including R.J. Horner, J.H. Belter, J&J.W. Meeks, Herter Brothers, Allen & Brother, Pottier & Stymus, Karpen Furniture, Duffner & Kimberly, Tiffany & Co. and many others, as well as European antiques, decorative arts, and bronze statuary.
Hal Hunt is a native of Louisiana. He comes from a family whose entrepreneurial roots began in horse trading. The transition from horse trading to furniture and antiques is credited to his great-uncle, Allen L. Hunt, who, in 1950, established a small family business in Zachary, Louisiana, buying, selling, and trading used furniture, antiques, livestock, hardware, vegetables, tractors, and many other goods.
Hal's father, Harry Hunt, Sr., later became established in the antique auction business during the 1970s and continued until his passing in 2013. Hal himself began auctioneering at the young age of nine and is the third generation of his family in the antique auction and import business. Although he has spent his entire life in the business, he officially began his career in 1986. Hal brings decades of experience to the auction industry.
In December 2000, Hal made the decision to expand his part of the family business to a new location when an opportunity became available in Northport, Alabama. With strong support from the communities of Northport and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, along with faith, prayer, and the support of his wife and three daughters, Hal permanently relocated both his business and family to Northport.
In 2001, Hal Hunt Auctions conducted its first auction in Alabama and began presenting High-End American Antique Auctions, later recognized as the Annual February Museum Auction. These auctions became known for offering lifetime collections of exceptional antiques and attracted collectors from across the country to Northport, Alabama.
Buyers appreciated the opportunity to see, touch, and purchase quality antiques-all in one day and one location. February 2026 marked the Final Show-the last Annual February Museum Auction presented "The Old School Way" (in-person only, with no phone bidding and no internet bidding).
While the tradition and pursuit of exceptional lifetime collections will continue, June 2026 marked the beginning of a new chapter. Hal Hunt Auctions-301 was introduced as the company's internet auction platform, representing a new era for the business.
These auctions feature a curated selection of 301 items from exceptional collections and provide collectors worldwide the opportunity to acquire these special pieces online while continuing the tradition, service, and standards that have defined the Hunt family business for generations.
