Harlem's rich historic past meets Cuban art at Black Rock Galleries (BRG) during their Fall Estates Auction taking place on Sunday, November 8 at 1 p.m. BRG is pleased to offer this fine collection of art, estate jewelry, antiques, and decorative arts. Many of the lots offered in this auction come from Harlem's historic Watt-Pinkney family including the estate of Beverley Lopez, great nephew of Archibald Watt and renowned artist in his own right. The Watt family farm and breeding stable was once the largest single property in Harlem and was one of the last to be developed.
Auction highlights include:
Five magnificent Henry Stull (Canadian, 1851-1913) paintings commissioned by the Watt-Pinkney family who owned much of what is modern day Harlem. The family bred renowned thoroughbred horses including "Maid of Harlem," one of the featured pieces in the offerings.
Three pristine Esteban Chartrand (Cuban/American, 1840-1884) oil on wood paintings depicting Cuban landscapes -- all hailing from the estate of artist and descendant of the Watt-Pinkney family, Beverley Lopez
A detailed pen, ink, and dry brush sketch, "Dun Gone," by Edward Borein (American, 1873-1945) featuring a cowboy on a bucking horse.
Two impressive Carl Kauba (Austrian, 1865-1992) cast native American bronze sculptures.
An impressive oil on canvas, measuring 32" by 39.5" attributable to Wifredo Lam (Cuban, 1902-1982) entitled, "Barcelona Harbor" from a private collection of television producer, Pedro Font.
Stunning estate jewelry including a 3.93 carat diamond platinum-set engagement ring, a 2 carat marquis diamond ring, and a gold and diamond bracelet.
Two military commission documents: A Pinkney appointment to First Lieutenant dated 1802, signed by Thomas Jefferson as President and countersigned by Henry Dearborn, Secretary of War and the other an appointment to Colonel for Ninian Pinkney dated 1821, signed by James Monroe as President.

Terms & Conditions
1. All property is sold as-is where-is. Black Rock Auction Galleries makes no guarantees or warranties with respect to; age, condition, content, provenance, authenticity, or correctness of items being sold.
2. Black Rock Auction reserves the right to withdraw any property at any time before its actual sale and also refuse any bid from any bidder. The auctioneer is the sole judge as to the amount and successful bidder on all items.
3. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have the discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the lot in dispute.
4. The purchase price paid by the buyer shall be the sum of the final bid and a buyer's premium of 25% of the final bid on each, plus all applicable sales tax. A discount of 3% on the buyer's premium will be given with payment of cash or known check. Black Rock Auction has the right to hold property until payment has cleared. Payments made with bank check or certified funds will be treated as cash.
5. No waiver or alteration of any of these Conditions of Sale, the Advice to Prospective Bidders, the Limited Warranty, the estimates, or any other matter in this catalogue or any other matter whatever (whether made by the auctioneer, or Consignor, or any representative of Black Rock Galleries) shall be effective unless it is in writing and signed by a representative of Black Rock Galleries.
6. SALES TAX. All items purchased are subject to a Connecticut State sales tax of 6.35% on the total purchase price including the Buyer's Premium. Unless the purchaser presents proof of exemption. Purchases shipped by professional shippers to addresses outside of Connecticut are not subject to sales tax
7. RESERVES. All lots are subject to a reserve, a minimum price agreed to with the seller below which the lot will not be sold.
8. Estimates are given as a guide to bidding and are not intended for a basis of the items actual value.
9. All property must be removed within 7 days of the auction sale. Items not removed are subject to a $10 per day storage fee.
10. SHIPMENT. Black Rock Auction is not a shipper, buyers will be responsible for arranging their own shipping, we will supply a list of local shippers upon request.
11. LOTS NOT RETURNABLE. Paragraph 3 of the Limited Warranty describes lots which are sold as is and not returnable. Books, manuscripts, prints, drawings, photographs, signatures, or any other property offered in a lot comprising more than 3 items, whether or not such items are individually named, constitute "Grouped Lots." Such "Grouped Lots" are not subject to return for any reason.
12. STORAGE: Black Rock Galleries extends a 7 day grace period to remove all items from the warehouse LOCATED AT 1720 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport. After this period items will automatically be stored at Black Rock Moving and subject to a $10 daily storage charge. When the storage costs have exceeded the amount paid for the item, the item will become property of the Black Rock Moving.
13. UNPAID STRIKES: Upon being successful on a lot a buyer shall have 5 business days to pay for the lot, after which unpaid strikes will be filed with live auctioneers. these unpaid strikes shall remain on the account and shall be removed up to 5 business days after the lot is paid for.
