A large contemporary rectangular studio pottery platter by artist Jay Trenchard. The vessel is slab-built with a minimalist form, consisting of a flat central well and shallow, straight rims. Four small, raised lug-style elements are positioned symmetrically along the long sides. The decorative scheme features a variegated glaze application. One section is finished in a deep oxblood red glaze that transitions via a thin, iridescent band of purple, blue, and golden-orange into a pale, neutral cream or light celadon glaze with fine dark speckling. The underside of the platter is unglazed, revealing a white ceramic body. The base is incised with the signature TRENCHARD above the mark 2K, indicating a creation date of 2000.
