Greg Wallace is a full-time representational painter who received formal training at the University of Wisconsin from 1974–78, majoring in art and art education and developing a strong foundation in classical drawing and painting. After moving to Arizona in 1979, he became increasingly dedicated to landscape painting and plein-air work, developing a distinctive practice of gesturally poetic oil and watercolor paintings created from direct observation. His work has been represented by galleries including Rosequist Galleries, Sanders Gallery, and Legacy Gallery, and is held in corporate and private collections in the United States and abroad. Wallace has received numerous recent honors, including Best of Show and second place for Architectural work at the 2025 Oro Valley Spring Festival of the Arts, Best of Show at the 2024 Tubac Center of the Arts juried members exhibition, a category award for Best Floral in the 7th Annual Plein Air Salon sponsored by Fine Art Connoisseur, and an award from the Plein Air Magazine Salon; additional recognition includes Honorable Mentions from the Desert Plein Air Association in 2023 and 2024, third place at the 2021 Artist and Makers Studio “Sonoran Sizzle,” Honorable Mention at the 2021 “A Brush With the Desert” exhibition, and second place at the 2020 “Sonoran Light” exhibition.
