This is a monumental one-of-a-kind 2 piece Majolica floor vase made by Biagioli of Gubbio, Italy depicting The Four Seasons. It has been hand painted in the Liberty style (Italian term for Art Nouveau style) and shows 4 different women and various colorful flowers and leaves (representing the 4 seasons) on the 4 sides of the vase. There are markings of the manufacturer on the piece. Its total height is about 57" and the maximum diameter is 20". The top part is separable for easy of transport. This vase was specially custom made in 2003 for an Italian Majolica import store in San Francisco as a showpiece for the window and is not part of their typical product line. The studio Ceramiche Biagioli of Gubbio, Italy is very well known because their work and name is derived from the famous 15th century artist Mastro Giorgio, considered the most important potter of the Italian Renaissance.
