Rare Edo period ....porcelain totai teapot
In Japan, some time around 1868, the innovation of a technique of applying cloisonne enamels to ceramic vessels was put into production...But the exactness of the labor and accompanying costs made the production period...well it only lasted a short time...
This piece has been a treasured item and has been in my personal collection for a number of years.
