Description
This is a remarkable survival from the WWII era: a German Minenwarnfahnen (Mine Warning Flags) set, essential kit for combat engineers (Pioniere) tasked with clearing paths through minefields. The set features ten yellow cotton pennants, each printed with the iconic black "death's head" skull and crossbones, mounted on sturdy red-painted steel rods. These rods are ingeniously designed to stack or link, all housed in their original heavy canvas and leather-trimmed "donkey-ear" style carrying pouch with an adjustable webbed shoulder strap. The canvas remains strong with a functional metal closure tab, though it shows minimal field wear and light staining. The flags and metal rods are in good condition with storage wear. H 22", W 7", D 2".
