Description
Vintage A.C. Gilbert Erector Set No. 8 "Zeppelin," presented in its original red-painted wooden case with gold stenciled lettering on the lid. The interior features a colorful factory-printed lid decal illustrating the famous Zeppelin airship model over a harbor skyline, with organized black insert tray containing gears, wheels, pulleys, and structural girders. Includes the original instruction manual showing early Gilbert illustrations, and the original cloth Zeppelin bag. The cloth bag has not been fully examined for condition, due to it being folded up and brittle. This set has not been collated for completeness and is being sold with what is shown. Some of the cardboard compartment boxes are torn/broken. Wooden box shows expected surface wear, fading, and edge scuffing consistent with age. Closure hardware is also slightly damaged. Case measures approx. 25" x 10-3/4" x 6. A highly desirable early example of Gilbert's 1930s production. From the remarkable lifetime Collection of Michael Kent.
