The codex Manesse, also known as the Great Heidelberg Book of songs, is the most important surviving manuscript of medieval German Lyric poetry (Minnesang). It contains the works of 140 poets some of which are depicted in these prints. The original codex is housed at the Heidelberg University library in Germany.
