Early 19th century late Georgian Period large gallery or library magnifying glass. Rosewood and brass. Circa 1820. Some age shrinkage separation in the circular molding and several small chips to molding, otherwise good condition. Measures 15 inches wide x 7.5 x 1 inch tall. Cataloguer’s note: The gallery glass was very popular in England’s Regency Period and late Georgian Period with connoisseurs and collectors. The gallery glass was used to gently magnify works of art in museums and art galleries from a distance.
