Noritake Double Handled Landscape Vase

Description

The hand painted double handled vase of amphora form is consistent with Japanese export production from the 1920s to 1940s. The vase features a magenta/fuchsia ground glaze and is accented with gilt detailing on the twin loop handles, rim, and foot. The body is decorated with two stylized landscape panels, each outlined in black. The primary panel depicts a yellow and orange house set among dark trees and a large deciduous tree. The reverse panel features a simplified landscape scene with a single tree and shrubs. The base bears a printed green backstamp reading NORITAKE arched above a laurel wreath enclosing the letter M, with HAND PAINTED and MADE IN JAPAN.
